Dr. Andres Vargas received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida in 2022. He previously received his Master's in the same field in 2014 through a Fulbright fellowship at University of Central Florida. Andres also got a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from ESPOL in Ecuador.
Andres research is on user interfaces and interaction techniques that can help domain experts with low technical skills build augmented reality scenarios. Andres is building authoring tools from immersive and non-immersive perspectives to create in situ AR experiences. Andres also collaborated with a project to build a SLAM algorithm to find positioning and rotation when movements are agile. Andres's previous work in Augmented Reality involves comparing AR/VR and traditional interfaces to analyze the perceived learning gains on complex rules-set in the soccer context. He has also explored usability of sketch based interfaces in the context of descriptive statistics, math and gesture recognition.
