Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicles

Our project, the MaRC S-Park (Magnetic Resonant Coupled Smart Parking) is a system for wireless power transfer for electric vehicles, intended to wirelessly transfer electrical energy when parking. The system is intended to be modular, thus in later iterations, it will feature the ability to be affixed to any electric vehicle, not just the RC car used in our demonstration. The system utilizes Magnetic Resonance Coupling to transfer a 3.2MHz signal across a 1 inch gap, the ground clearance offered by our car. The important thing in our design is not the frequency, size of the resonance network, the distance of separation, nor the size of the vehicle, rather it is the ability to transfer electric energy to an electric vehicle through wireless means. All of the previously mentioned features can be adjusted as needed to meet the goal of wireless power transfer.
