Video Services and the Mobile Web

    Speaker:Dr. Giridhar D. Mandyam

Abstract: Online social communities have become an important distribution channel for video content. Services such as YouTube have been instrumental in providing a means for user generated video content to be communicated efficiently. The increasing penetration of smart phones now allow mobile users to access these online communities via the mobile browser, but the issues surrounding video delivery over cellular still are relevant. In this talk, the different types of participants in an online social community for video content are discussed along with their associated interactions. Given this model, preserving the targeted user experience over cellular can be challenging. Nevertheless, there exist several technical approaches that can still allow users to interact with online video communities regardless of the device they are using.
